Man’s Best Friend

For a long time dogs have always been regarded as “man’s best friend”, I’ve never really understood why.

Due to various complications, my cat has been taken back to the old house, and it’s with this that I have come to understand why that is said.

When I was 9 years old I bought my cat, Barney, with my own £15. I went to a house where the owners had a litter of kittens, and chose that cat. I wonder what happened to his brothers and sisters, and his Mother and Father too. Through ten years, Barney has never betrayed my trust or let me down, like humans have the tendancy to do. We’ve never had an argument, or fallen out. Through ten years, if ever I needed a hug, he was there, and always enjoyed the attention. At times he could sense my emotions; he knew if I was happy or sad, and would often come over to me to play, or to cheer me up. Okay, so Barney is a cat, not a dog, and even though I can go and see him whenever I like, I now feel that I understand why people refer to dogs as “man’s best friend”.

  1. You made me cry.
I’m sorry Dan, for all of it. I really, really am.

Barney was laying on the patio today. Then he went upstairs with Bo and curled up on the bed. He seemed relaxed. Happy, even. I know you’ll miss him, but for a dog-eared ol’ cat…it was for the best. x

  2. Dan, I am sorry for all you and your familly have gone thru lately.
Pets are special. They love us unconditionally. I hope you will be with yours again soon.
    Hugs.

  3. Hey Dan … you know your mother is a rock for you but she needs your help right now. Please check in with her every day, just say hi. She needs you.

Good luck on the job hunt and getting Barney back.

  4. I don’t know what is going on, so feel free to ignore my advice, but whatever it is you need to patch things up - I’m reading between the lines, but nothing lasts forever, and nothing is more important than your family while you do still have one another…
