Lloyds

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

This weekend I popped into Lloyds, because I wanted to open a new bank account. I’ve been having endless troubles with my current bank, Cooperative, and I couldn’t be arsed to go through the havoc of changing addresses and everything now that I’ve moved house.

Cooperative have been useless because I’ve applied for an overdraft so many times, and they won’t give me one - and I keep getting my card returned at the cashpoint, because apparently I don’t have enough money in the account - even though I keep track of my spendings. This actually happened to me the other week, so I popped into my local branch and asked what was due to come out. The lady behind the counter said £10 was due to come out, which was why I couldn’t take anymore money out. This was over a week ago, and I’m still yet to see that money come out. I went without lunch that day because of that.

So, after a rather irritatingly long wait at Lloyds I got a new account set up, and they’ve given me a £550 overdraft and a Visa, instead of no overdraft and an Electron. Hopefully all of that’ll be sorted by wednesday, so yay!

I’m good with money, so the overdraft isn’t going to be getting me into financial troubles or anything, but it’s certainly going to be helpful as Christmas is approaching, and I’ve just switched from temporary to permanent contract, which means I won’t get paid for a little while.

Mortgage Support

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

I’ve had this idea spinning around my head for a little while, but haven’t really given it thorough thought, which is probably why the idea doesn’t exist already.

As a side note, have you ever considered that people who buy their own houses don’t have more money because they have better-paid jobs, but because with their mortgage paid, they’re not spending hundreds of pounds every month on their house.

There are so many people out there who are renting privately, or in government-provided accommodation because they can’t afford a mortgage. So, why couldn’t there be a company which, when you join, you’re put into a team of, say, 5 people. 4 of these people will already have their own house, through being part of the company, the 5th would be you. The 4 people help pay your mortgage, so they each pay 1/5 of it, and you pay the other 1/5. When your mortgage has been paid, you have a house, and you pay those 4 people back.

Sure, the complexity of that could be much more in-depth, and obviously there’d be so many loopholes and financial laws you’d have to look at, but in conclusion, what happens is you end up getting a house, the 4 people who helped pay get their money back, and then in the future you help pay for someone else’s house, and they pay you back, and so on and so forth.

Design

I’ve switched back to the default WordPress template for now, as I’m never going to bother getting around to updating my theme, and to be honest I got bored of it.

I’ve not really been able to think of anything to write about lately; I suppose working in technical support has taken the motivation to rant out of me, regardless of the fact it provides me with so much more to rant about.

Anyway, drop me a comment if you’re reading this entry, as it’d be nice to know who (if anyone) is (still?) reading this blog.

iPhone

Instead of updating my previous post I thought I would post a new one as I have an iphone now, and am actually using the wordpress application to write this entry.

I’m not going to spend ages writing a review; I’m just going to say one thing: it is awesome. That is all
